Tampa Police say $10 million dollars was stolen from Floridians through an elaborate tax scam that involved more than 10,000 fraudulent tax returns. Dozens of suspects are already in police custody.

The Corporate Tax Network, which is based in Tampa, FL (and also has an office in New York, NY) is offering free accounting and consulting for those victims affected by this scam. The company says it will make its Certified Public Accountants available to anyone who was victimized.

Police investigators say as much $137 million dollars may have been stolen from people all over Florida, including Lt. Mark Scott – an officer with the Tampa Police. He’s already told reporters that he was unable to file his tax returns with the IRS after the scammers used his personal information to file false returns.
